I love this piece!!!

And I too hate the fact Ambipom left. Heck, sometimes I still ramble about it. Salty AF

Here's the thing: IF Dawn did kept Ambipom and Ambipom wished to help her win the Grand Festival,
both would've won the whole shindig, hand(tails) down. This is what so many people WANT. :D

Yeah, Ambipom probably would have helped... But, it's kind of typical that the protagonists don't actually win, so I suppose it's fun to speculate anyway.

And that's why the anime is VERY annoying when it comes to obtaining sweet, protagonist progress.
I endured Super Contest shenanigans in the D/P season for Ambipom. Just couldn't give her and the coordinator the right rewards,
but that's asking too much from the writers for a semi-gud rookie and the top-performer Pokemon of her entire team.

Yeah. I mean I get that they have to keep the formula of Ash not winning since he has to be re-used as annoying as that is, too, but if Dawn wasn't going to continue to journey with Ash, she could have at least kept Ambipom. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much because she ended up getting in second place... but it's the way they got rid of Ambipom that vexes me.

I understand why all of Dawn's pokemon were selection: promotional tools. Even Quilava was gained to promote HGSS. But, Ambipom could have been boxed!

But, I would argue that Dawn was in fact a very good rookie. If she'd gotten a second chance at a grand festival like May had, she might have won considering how close she got to winning the first time.

But yeah... her having her entire team would have been cool.

Wow, you know how EXACTLY what I felt after the ending. It was immensely vexing, indeed.
I personally think the writes hate Pokemonkeys enough to sent Ambipom away if they present quality to do amazing things
(as with Infernape after he shown superb power overall and we know of Pirmeape...).

That Pom had been in the adventure since Hoenn...
and the whole thing of dreams for her crashed with a out-of-the-blue fascination on ping-pong.
AND, Dawn gets 2nd place after many prep and contest eps just when the purple powerhouse left the scene.
Whoop-de-doo~ THIS left me grudging those bozos behind the anime staff more than a livid Ninetales.

Hoo GOD, the crushing feels.
